Flatland Futures Young Persons Banner Commission
Flatland Projects is looking to commission an East Sussex artist aged 18-25 to design and create a banner artwork to be installed on the exterior of the gallery until summer 2026.
This public realm commission will be displayed year round for our local community and visitors to Bexhill, we are excited to hand over this space to an emerging artist from or living in East Sussex.
Flatland Projects team will support you to develop and realise your ideas as a print ready design. This design will then be fabricated into a banner and installed on the gallery exterior.
What type of artwork are we looking for?
- We are interested in a broad range of disciplines, your banner could be text, photograph, painting or drawing etc.

The banner should aim to challenge and engage our regional audiences.

- What do you want to say to the public of Bexhill?
- How can you use your artistic voice to convey these messages?
Who? East Sussex artist aged 18-25 years old. The banner commission is for a visual artist e.g. graphic designer, painter, photographer, illustrator, performance artist, writer, textiles designer... You do not have to have worked in print before, we are interested in how your work translates into print through this banner commission.
Note: if you are from East Sussex or went to school there and are currently living elsewhere this opportunity is also for you!

What’s included:
£500 artist fee
£500 production budget
How to apply? This Google Form - You will need to show us a link to your work/ portfolio/ social media and initial proposal for banner design. Plus a completed monitoring form, all of this is included in the google form here.
