Unresolved Mysteries

13.09.2025 - 14.09.2025

Unresolved Mysteries presents a hybrid horror-radio drama disguised as a call-in mystery show. Blurring fiction, reality, and technology, it conjures a world where possession, media hauntings, reenactment, and fan fiction collapse into one. This experimental narrative destabilizes distinctions between recollection and reanimation, staging the call centre as both confessional and exorcistic space.

This radio broadcast commission has been developed specifically for the inaugural Bexhill Art Weekender. Generously supported by funds from Rother District Council.

Organised by Flatland Projects In partnership with the De La Warr Pavilion & the Bexhill Cultural Network

Flatland Projects, De La Warr Pavilion & the Bexhill Cultural Network are pleased to announce the launch of the Bexhill Art Weekender 2025, a new two-day festival celebrating contemporary visual arts across Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex.

Taking place on 13 - 14 September, #BAW2025 brings together a diverse group of artists, organisations, and practitioners to animate the town through a programme of exhibitions, performances, open studios, and public events. The weekender marks a Bexhill-wide focus on how artists exist in the local ecology, and, through various expressions of experimentation, commemoration and celebration, they imagine new possibilities for the town.

BAW 2025 is grounded in a bold creative proposition: to present high-calibre, ground-breaking contemporary art in the heart of Bexhill-on-Sea, a coastal town facing long-standing economic challenges, yet rich in cultural history and civic pride. The project responds to urgent questions about the future of our towns, commissioning artists to propose new ways that culture can connect the coast with the rest of the UK and further afield. A key question at the heart of the festival programme is ‘what is a monument, and how does the monumental sit within our lives’, not as static statues, but as speculative, site-responsive gestures that imagine and rehearse better futures.

Through this annual two-day festival, Flatland and the wider Bexhill Cultural Network seek to reposition Bexhill as a leading artist-focused community within the South East’s cultural ecology, advancing the town’s identity as a place of creativity and culture.
