Heav(Gard)en
Tawfik Naas

Heav(Gard)en gathers nine years of writing by researcher Tawfik Naas.

Developed alongside his research practice, these texts began as a place to hold what could not always be housed within physical works: fragments, metaphors, observations, and moments that continued to ask for form after an artwork had reached its limits.

Published alongside Manifestations for an Eternal Spring at Flatland Projects,
Heav(Gard)en offers another way of entering Naas’ research into the ways we observe, remember, and (re)experience history.

Rather than functioning as documentation or explanation, the writings operate as parallel sites of enquiry, where history, family, religion, landscape, and language are encountered through metaphor, repetition, and return.

Across the collection, words shift in meaning, ideas reappear in altered forms, and moments of reflection give way to daydream.

Together, the texts trace the evolving methodologies that have shaped Naas’ practice over the past nine years, inviting readers to move through research as a living landscape that continues to unfold.
